The Australian Online Safety Act (AU OSA) is a law designed to help keep Australians safe online. It sets out the rules for how online platforms, apps, and services should protect users from harmful content and behaviour. It also gives the Australian eSafety Commissioner the power to act when things go wrong - like cyberbullying, image-based abuse, or the presence of harmful or illegal content.

Reporting Harmful Content on Roblox under the AU OSA
Safety is important everywhere online, including on Roblox. If you are in Australia and experience online harm or see illegal or harmful content or behaviour on Roblox, please report it using our AU OSA reporting form here.
How to use our AU OSA reporting form
Reporting harmful content is quick and easy. To make a report using our AU OSA reporting form, click here and follow the steps to fill out the form.
Once you submit a report, we will review it and get back to you, letting you know the outcome and reasons. For example, we might remove content or block a user if there has been a violation of our Community Standards. You can appeal our decision if you disagree.
The AU OSA reporting form is only available in Australia.
Other ways to report content on Roblox
You can also report bad content or inappropriate behaviour on Roblox through our Report Abuse tool. For information on using our Report Abuse tool, please see our How to Report Rule Violations article.
Roblox settings that help keep our users in Australia safe
Our tools and settings are designed to help protect our users and let them make choices about the way they use Roblox and interact with others. These include tools and settings that, in Australia:
- allow users to block other users
- allow users to mute others in Voice Chat
- allow users to not display their online status
- allow users under 16 to communicate with other users of a similar age (but not with adult users)
- make accounts of users under 16 private by default
Users have the ability to limit or disable who can chat with them (both in-app or in-experience), send them messages, follow them into experiences or invite them to private servers. Learn more about how these social functions in the Help Centre.
Blocking other users
Roblox’s blocking feature allows you to cut off contact with another user without notifying them. Once blocked, the user will not be able to send you Friend requests, directly contact you (i.e directly message you, invite you to an Experience, invite you to a Party chat etc.), or follow you. They will also be automatically removed from your Friends list if they were on it. Learn more about how to block another user and what happens when you block them in the Help Centre.
Only your friends can add you to Party chats and you can remove yourself from a Party at any time. Learn more about how to limit or turn off Party in the Help Centre.
Linked parents can block their child’s friends from within Parental Controls. Learn more about Parental Controls in the Help Centre.
Muting other users in Voice Chat
Roblox’s mute function allows you to mute another user in a voice chat experience. Muting will last for the duration you are in the experience. Learn more about muting voice chat in the Help Centre.
Online Status
Roblox gives users control over their online status visibility. In Australia, users can limit their online status visibility or set it to no one. Learn more about changing your online status setting in the Help Centre.
Text Filtering and Classifiers
Our text filtering system and classifiers automatically detect and block abusive text to prevent the delivery of unsolicited material. Learn more about those systems in the Help Centre.
Communication settings for users under 16
Our age-based chat ensures that users will only be able to chat with other users in their own age group or similar.
To be able to access Roblox’s communication features (including Experience Chat, Party, and Voice Chat), all users (no matter how old they are) can complete a voluntary age-check. Once you have completed this check, you can use Roblox’s communication features to chat with other users in your age group.
In Australia, adult users can’t contact users aged under 16 on Roblox. Voice Chat is also not available for users under the age of 16. For more information, see here.
Default privacy settings for users under 16
We have a number of tools and settings that help protect the privacy of our users under 16 in Australia. For example, some tools and settings are switched off or set by default to no one or Friends only for these users:
- Communications features are default off for all users in Australia. To access these features, users can voluntarily complete an age check.
- In-experience visibility is set by default to Friends only for users under 16 in Australia. For information on in-experience visibility settings, read our Online Status and Visibility article.
- Users under 17 are not able to use their real name in their Roblox display name.
- Voice Chat is switched off for under 16 users in Australia.
- Friend Recommendations are switched off for under 16 users in Australia.
