You can connect with verified students from your own school so you can find friends, see who's online, and play together more easily.
Connecting your school is always your choice. You can add or remove yourself from your school at any time.
- Note: Classmates on Roblox is currently in a limited pilot and is only available in select U.S. states for select high schools and colleges. If you don't see the option yet, it isn't available for your account.
How to find classmates on Roblox
You enter your school-issued email address, and we send a 6-digit code to that inbox. Once you enter the code, you're verified — and you can find and play with other verified students from the same school who have completed the same process.
Three things to know:
- It's optional. Nothing else about your account changes if you skip it.
- It's verified. Everyone in your school on Roblox has confirmed a school email address, so you're connecting with people who go where you go.
- It's private to your school. Your school is only visible to other verified users from the same school. Your school name isn't shown on your profile, your school doesn't appear in Community search or lists, and your email address is never visible to anyone.
Who can access Classmates on Roblox
During the pilot, Classmates on Roblox is available to users who:
- Are between 13 and 24 years old
- Are located in one of the U.S. pilot states: Alabama or Nevada
- Are using the Roblox mobile or desktop app
If you meet these requirements, you'll see a Classmates tile on the Add Friends page. You may also get a one-time notification letting you know the feature is available.
Not all schools in the pilot states are supported at this time. If your school isn't supported, we'll notify you when we expand school coverage.
Age checks still apply
In this pilot, connecting your school does not change your age or unlock features you couldn't use before. Chat, trusted friends, and other communication features continue to follow your existing age check settings, so you’ll only chat with people in similar age groups – unless someone is a trusted friend. Verifying your school and verifying your age are separate things.
How to connect your school
- Go to the Add Friends page and tap Classmates.
- Review the feature details, then tap Continue.
- Enter your school email address (the one issued by your school, not a personal email). Tap Continue.
- Confirm your school. You may be asked to select your school from a drop-down list if your email is linked to more than one school.
- Check your inbox for a 6-digit code and enter it to confirm your school.
- Select your graduation year, or choose Alumni if you've already graduated.
- You're connected. If your school isn't open yet, you'll land on your school's waiting page.
The verification email comes from UNiDAYS, not Roblox
Roblox partners with UNiDAYS to verify school email addresses. The email with your one-time code will come from UNiDAYS, not from Roblox.
- If you don't see it, check your spam or junk folder before tapping Resend code.
- Some schools block email from outside senders. If you can't receive the verification email, you won't be able to connect your school right now — we plan to add other ways to verify in the future.
By continuing through verification, you agree to UNiDAYS' terms of service and privacy policy. You won’t be registered for a UNiDAYS account.
A few limits to keep in mind
- You can be connected to one school at a time.
- A school email address can only be linked to one Roblox account.
- There are limits on how many times you can submit an email address or request a new code in a day. If you hit a limit, try again later.
- Not all schools in the pilot states are supported at this time. If your school is not supported, we’ll notify you when we expand school coverage.
How to remove yourself from your school
You can disconnect from your school whenever you want.
- Go to your school page.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Remove, then confirm.
Important: Removing yourself from your school deletes any reward items you received through Schools on Roblox. If you want to rejoin later, you'll need to verify your school email address again.
If you transfer schools, remove yourself from your current school and then verify your new school email address.
Graduation and alumni
When you connect your school, you're asked for your graduation year. Once you graduate, you'll be automatically removed from the school.
If you've already graduated, you can select Alumni when you connect. Alumni groups aren't open during the pilot, so you'll stay on a waiting page for now. We'll notify you if your school's alumni group opens.
Founding Members
You can see other classmates at your school once enough students have joined. Founding Members are the users that join a school before it opens on Roblox.
- Once a school opens on Roblox, every Founding Member receives a free avatar item.
- You'll get a notification when your school opens.
- You can wear your Founder Reward like any other avatar item. It's offsale, so no one else can get it — if you wear it, it appears on your avatar and in the Currently Wearing section of your profile.
- The item isn't tied to any specific school, so wearing it doesn't reveal where you go.
- Your Founder Reward is a private item, so no one else can see it in your inventory.
While your school is still waiting to open, you'll see how many more students are needed. You can share an invite link with classmates to help open your school sooner.
What other people can see
Your school is only visible to verified students from the same school.
- On your own profile: Your school name is not displayed.
- On a classmate's profile: If you and another user are both verified at the same school, you'll each see a Classmate badge on the other's profile. The badge doesn't name the school.
- To everyone else: Nothing. Users who aren't verified at your school see no school information at all.
- In search: Your school doesn't appear in Community lists or Community search results.
Your school email address is never shown to other users.
Right after you finish verifying, we'll show your school name to you once to confirm we matched you correctly. After that, the school name is hidden everywhere – including from you.
Staying safe
Everything on Roblox — including Classmates on Roblox — is covered by the Roblox Community Standards. The same rules and the same tools apply.
- Adding a classmate is your choice. You can see who your classmates are and whether they're online, but you decide whether to send a friend request. Once you're friends, you can see what they're playing and join them, and chat where your age check settings allow. Until then, being at the same school doesn't give anyone extra access to you.
- Think before you add. Only add people you actually know. Going to the same school doesn't mean someone is safe to share personal information with.
- Never share personal details. Don't share your address, phone number, class schedule, or other identifying information — with classmates or anyone else.
- Block or report anyone. You can block or report any user from their profile using the standard reporting flow, including users from your school.
- Leave anytime. If you no longer want to be discoverable by classmates, remove your school from your school page.
If something doesn't feel right, use the Report Abuse button. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
Frequently asked questions
Why don’t I see Classmates in Roblox?
The feature is in a limited pilot. It's only available to users aged 13–24 in select states on the mobile and desktop apps.
I didn't get the verification email. What should I do?
The email comes from UNiDAYS, not Roblox — check your spam or junk folder for a message from them. You can also tap Resend code. If it still doesn't arrive, double-check that you entered your school email address correctly. Some schools block email from outside senders, so you may not be able to receive it at all.
Can I use my personal email address?
No. You need an email address issued by your school. Personal email addresses won't work.
Are school emails linked to my Roblox account?
No. Your school email is for school verification only and will not be linked to your account. If you have a verified personal email address on your account, that address is still what's used for account recovery and authentication.
