Roblox Kids and Roblox Select are new account types specifically designed for users younger than 16. They feature games that have gone through a multistep safety suitability check.

How it works
Age-based assignment
Users are placed into a Roblox account type based on age checks. Users can complete an age check in one of two ways:
- Users with a valid government ID can use ID verification, or
- Users can complete a quick, secure Facial Age Estimation process. The technology Roblox uses provides a fast, easy check via a user’s device camera. All images and video are deleted after processing to protect user privacy.
If you haven't completed an age check, we use the age you entered when you signed up:
- Under 9: Roblox Kids, with chat off
- 9 and older: Roblox Select, with chat off
All games in these catalogs have passed our extended review and selection process. To access chat, or to play games outside Roblox Kids and Roblox Select, complete an age check. Parents can update or correct a child's age through a linked parent account.
Multistep safety suitability check
Content on Roblox is evaluated through a multilayered system before being made available to younger users. This includes developer eligibility requirements such as ID verification and ongoing compliance with platform standards. Content is regularly reviewed through automated moderation systems and human review, including user abuse reports. Certain categories (e.g., sensitive issues, social hangouts, free-form drawing) are limited to older users (16+).
Content access
Only games that meet age-specific criteria and regional requirements are made available to younger users. Roblox will transition to the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) framework to provide region-specific ratings (such as ESRB in the U.S., PEGI in much of Europe and the U.K., and IGRS in Indonesia). Parents can block a child’s access to specific games through a linked parent account.
