Within Games, you can offer in-game items or subscriptions in Robux. To maintain safety and fairness, items or subscriptions must be presented in a way that is transparent, honest and user-friendly. You should not mislead, confuse or pressure users into making a purchase.
Practices to avoid
Some practices to avoid at all times when offering in-game items and subscriptions:
- Don’t claim that an item or a subscription is “almost out of stock” or only available for a short time if this is not true.
- Don’t use countdown timers that are not accurate or that automatically re-start for the same item.
Example: An experience includes a “Deal of the Day” which is shown as being available only for 24 hours. However, the same message is shown to users every time they log in, and the specific item never stops being available. This creates a false sense of urgency and is not considered user-friendly.
Genuine discounts and fair pricing
If you offer discounts, they must be genuine and fair:
- A discount is not genuine if an item is always “on sale” for the same amount of Robux. When possible, you should disclose how long the item is “on sale” for.
- A discount is not fair if it is only offered for a very short period of time, pressuring users to make a purchase as quickly as possible.
Ensuring intentional purchases
Creators should ensure users are not pressured into purchases in ways they did not intend. A user should always make a clear, deliberate choice to obtain a Subscription or spend Robux on a specific item.
